Gabbar Is Back is a 2015 Indian Kannada language action thriller film written and directed by Prakash Raj. It features an ensemble cast of Vijay Raghavendra, Ramya, Anupama Gowda, Vicky Sood, Mukesh Rishi and Rekha Vedavyas. The plot revolves around the life of convict Dhanush (Vijay Raghavendra), who comes out of prison to save his family from his corrupt landlord (Ramya). It was dubbed into Hindi as Gabbar Is Back . Girish (Vijay Raghavendra) is a hardened young man whose life ambition is to become an MLA. He comes from a lower-middle-class family, his father (Rangayana Raghu) is a drunkard who gambles away his hard-earned money on weak excuses. Girish's mother (Ambika) is submissive to her husband, and she herself doesn't question him since she is used to it. Girish often fights with his father but the latter never listens to him. Girish being unable to take his father's attitude pleads with his mother to let him go to a school where he can don sports uniform and participate in athletics. In spite of this, his mother still disagrees. Girish then visits a renowned school where the kids don't bully each other and the institution is free from corruption. However, he soon gets caught in a situation which drives him away from the school after finding out about its corrupt practices. He then meets a girl named Hanumathy (Anupama Gowda) who lives in a slum, and she reveals that her parents are helpless as their landlady uses them as slaves without paying the rent. He agrees to help them out by posing as a servant in exchange for food and accommodation. He plans to go back to college but things don't go as planned when his father gets involved in a fight with a local goon who cheats him in a gamble. Girish then beats up the local mafia and thus, wins the admiration of the people who soon start liking him. A local TV journalist, Guna (Anna Adhikari), comes to report on this incident and they fall in love with each other. Girish then rescues his mother from her landlord, who is in fact the son of the landlord who cheated him in gambling. When he is about to be arrested, he is released by the police inspector (Vicky Sood) on condition that he will help them catch a self-styled goon named Giri(Ravi Kale).
